With their five year old 'Robbers & Cowards', full of shaky garage rock and feverish blues, Cold War Kids first assaulted our tympanic membranes. Nathan Willet's tormented vocals deal with dark subjects such as rape, suicide, thieves and cowards. Their new album 'Mine Is Yours' harks back to Dylan, Jeff Buckley and The Velvet Underground, but also has links with Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and Two Gallants. With howling guitars, reverb, rattling organ sounds, gospel chants and rusty drums, they create a possessed, rootsy and soulful sound.
