As dEUS marches on into their 28th year of existence, and planning their eighth album with brand new band member Bruno De Groote, they’re pausing to celebrate the 20th anniversary of ‘The Ideal Crash’, the album that cemented their status as one of the most accomplished, inventive indie rock bands of their generation. Alongside a full remastering and reissue of deluxe CD and vinyl boxsets, they will bring their legendary album back to life during eight concerts in Ancienne Belgique, all sold out in no time. To celebrate this special occasion, dEUS has another surprise in store: they will be playing ‘The Ideal Crash’ in its entirety at Cactusfestival, closing the festival’s 38th edition on Sunday July 7th.

‘The Ideal Crash’, including hit single ‘Instant Street’, was a change of direction compared to earlier work. The record was released after a turbulent period, with a number of changes in the line-up, but unexpectedly became a huge success. Commercially, the album’s impact was negligible, but it’s legacy, particularly in underground music scenes and among fellow musicians like Chris Martin, Butch Vig and Gavin Rossdale, has been momentous. The album is timeless and sounds as vital and relevant today as it did twenty years ago. More than rightly so, ‘The Ideal Crash’ is now brought back up for a pleasant trip down memory lane at Cactusfestival.
