Joe Jackson

Joe Jackson actually wanted to become a writer, but that turned out differently. Fortunately, because Jackson proved to be a born musician. It all started in 1979 with his first album ‘Look Sharp!’ and the accompanying hits ‘Sunday Papers’, ‘Is She Really Going Out With Him’ and ‘Fools in Love’. What followed was an impressive career, spanning forty years now, in which Jackson experimented with pop, rock, new wave, classical music, blues and jazz and wrote a series of timeless songs, including ‘The Harder They Come’, ‘Real Men’, ‘Be My Number Two’ and ‘Slow Song’.

Meanwhile, Jackson released his twentieth long player ‘Fool’, again a very powerful piece of work. At times jazzy, with a hint of classical, but always ‘Joe Jackson’ because of his recognizable sound and voice. In the wake of the new album there’s the ‘Four Decade tour’, with two spring concerts in Belgium, sold out in less than an hour! Those who weren’t able to score their ticket, get a second chance at Cactusfestival Saturday July 6th, where Jackson will bring a selection of his impressive oeuvre, interspersed with new work.
