In Tamasheq, the language of the Touareg or ‘Kel Tamasheq’ from North Africa, Tamikrest means ‘connection and junction’. The ideal words to describe a band that mixes influences from their timeless culture with sounds and views they discovered on the road, travelling from concert to concert. Their music is a tribute to the Touareg identity, seasoned with influences from rock music.

Tamikrest grew to become flagbearers of contemporary desert blues, kindred spirits to Tinariwen and Bombino. In their politically charged and rhythmical music one hears echoes of dub, blues and funk. A band with a story and a mission, whose live shows are known for their danceable and psychedelic sound.
