A CULTURAL SUMMER HAPPENING IN THE HISTORICAL CITY CENTRE OF BRUGES
|
From 28 July until 11 August, the historical city centre of Bruges will be the setting for the 13th edition of the urban festival KLINKERS. A cosmopolitan summer happening that offers the visitor a wide variety of contemporary world music.
Surprising!
A summery and cosmopolitan festival happening with a surprising programme, always in search of revelations in the contemporary, global music scene.
Outside!
KLINKERS has lured many of the programmed groups from reputable concert halls and allows them to rise up to the challenge with a wide outside audience at historic locations.
Free!
With the exception of the KLINKERS INTIEM concerts, which due to the limited capacity and intimate character are paying concerts, the festival is free of charge.
Klinkers Intiem!
Entitled KLINKERS INTIEM we present four exclusive projects with restricted audience capacity which draw from very rich musical traditions:
JUAN CARLOS CÁCERES (2/08), just about the Argentinean equivalent of Paolo Conté: tango, milonga, candombe and murga on the crossroads of Afro-European fusion.
ELIADES OCHOA (1/08), one of the sole remaining authentic members of the Buena Vista Social Club, is a sure guarantee for an evening of world class Cuban son.
Sevillan virtuoso flamenco pianist DAVID PEÑA DORANTES (8/08) is coming to KLINKERS with his quartet for an undoubtedly memorable concert on the crossroads of flamenco and jazz. The next day (9/08) star dancer MARIA JUNCAL, the absolute sensation in contemporary flamenco, will present her 'Destemplao' programme.
Klinkende Kroegen!
KLINKENDE KROEGEN introduces the audience through concerts with a number of typical bars which are all, in their own way, part of Bruges' history.
Benenwerk!
KLINKERS 2006 finishes with the sixth edition of BENENWERK (LEGWORK) - 'Bruges goes Ballroom'. During this festive dance happening the city centre of Bruges will be turned into one of the biggest ballrooms in Flanders, where everyone can 'shake a leg' – irrespective of age, taste or fitness.
